Hürth, in Germany, is a town of many contrasts. With parts of it dating back to Roman times, Hürth today is a modern town with a healthy respect for its past. It has had civic links with Thetford since 1965 and is now nearly twice the size of Thetford with a population of some 52,000 people. Located approximately 10km south-west of Cologne, Hürth has a strong industrial base with Lignite mining, brickette making and truck assembly being the three largest employment opportunities.
